Datawell BV

Datawell was founded in 1961 as a research laboratory focused on developing general instrumentation. Specializing in the marine environment, Datawell pioneered the core principles of gravity-stabilized long-period motion sensors. Their most well-known products include wave buoys and vessel motion sensors.

The latest model, the DWR4, features an acoustic current meter capable of measuring surface currents in addition to wave height and direction. Datawell’s buoys also monitor sea surface temperature, and sensors for other meteorological parameters, such as air temperature, are currently in development.

Radac

Since 1998, Radac has been developing, manufacturing, and marketing The WaveGuide. This is an exceptionally accurate radar level gauge for measuring waves, tides, storm surges, tsunamis, seiches, and sea-level rise. Tests have shown that, in all wind and wave conditions, the standard deviation for water level measurement is only 1 cm. The radar level indicator is compact, robust, and easy to install. After a comprehensive, multi-year evaluation, the Dutch Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) adopted the WaveGuide system as the primary sensor for water level and wave height in its primary measurement network. The SWAP program is available for wave height measurements. This software provides the standard processing for wave height and direction for the Directorate-General and meets the standards of oil companies (E&P Forum).
